Rosetta
Overview
On a recent visit to M.A.I.L., I saw Rosetta by Cindy. This member of the European weave family is a variant of the 4-in-2 Chain with sections inspired by Byzantine added through every other pair of rings. I recommend this tutorial by Corvus to those who wish to make it at home.
Materials
For the sample piece showcased in this post, I made the rings myself. I used 16 SWG Bright Aluminum wire from The Ring Lord coiled around a 6mm mandrel (for an approximate ID of 6mm) for an AR of 3.7.
Notes
The Rosetta weave is simple to understand and create, making it an accessible option for learners. Its aesthetic appeal is fairly mediocre, though it improves somewhat under gravity as the Byzantine-like sections open up more. With its square cross-section, the weave is well-suited for use in bracelets, necklaces, cord, or even as a pendant. However, given its limited visual appeal and lack of unique use cases, I only recommend learning this weave if you personally like its appearance.
