Overview

While checking out M.A.I.L., I came across Charm Linkage by chainge_maker. This entry in the European and Rhino families presents a good base weave for adding charms and other items. For those who want to follow along, I recommend this tutorial by chainge_maker.

Materials

For the sample piece showcased in this post, I made the rings myself. I used 16 SWG Bright Aluminum wire from The Ring Lord coiled around a 5mm mandrel (for an approximate ID of 5mm) for an AR of 3.1.

Notes

Charm Linkage is a weave that is not complex to understand and is relatively easy to create. Visually, it is quite aesthetically pleasing, especially when tensioned by gravity. As a chain weave with a flat side, it is well suited for use in bracelets, chokers, and necklaces. Its design also makes it ideal for adding charms, which can be attached using the rings that pass through the eyes of each unit. When constructing the weave, it is helpful to pay attention to maintaining a consistent lean in each unit for a cleaner overall appearance. Given its simplicity, visual appeal, and practical utility, I recommend learning how to make this weave.
